Two Angelina County Drug-Free All Stars and two former All Stars were chosen as members of the Texans Standing Tall Youth Leadership Council. The students selected are: Amy Tang, graduate from Lufkin High School; Lauren Oliver, graduate from Zavalla High School; Riley Latham from Lufkin High School; and Alex Sanchez from Diboll High School. Recently, the students traveled to theYouth Leadership Council Fall Retreat in Wimberly, where they learned more about trends regarding youth drug use in order to work on preventing underage use in their communities. Youth Leadership Council is a youth workgroup that is made up of youth from around the state who are dedicated to being alcohol-free, tobacco-free and drug-free. The students complete a drug-free campaign/project for their community. We would like to congratulate the youth chosen to participate in the Youth Leadership Council and wish them luck as they move forward towards creating change in their communities.
